How to use STRAP’s Bridge module to define loading for easy analysis and design a Vehicle Overpass Bridge.

Pedestrian Bridge Example

The purpose of this document is to guide STRAP users to apply various modules of the software to model, analyze and design a Pedestrian Bridge. The pedestrian bridge example consists of an overall length 60m, 3-span simply supported reinforced concrete 15m jack spans and a 30m post tensioned center span supported on reinforced concrete piers and closed cantilever type abutments with return walls.

Prestressed beam

Prestressed beam with STRAP Software

This video tutorial covers the definition (from geometry to prestress) of a prestressed concrete beam with STRAP software.

AutoSTRAP overview

This video tutorial presents a detailed overview of AutoSTRAP software. import an IFC file from a BIM software or DXF files from CAD software to AutoSTRAP, review and modify the structural modeling elements that AutoSTRAP identifies, define loads, and then export the model to STRAP for FEM analysis and design, or export continuous beams to BeamD for 2D beam design and detailing.

Cable element

STRAP verification example of a cable net structure subjected to vertical loads applied at its interior nodes.

Combined steel section

This video tutorial demonstrates how to define a general combined steel section with STRAP software.

Pipe (elements)

Description A round concrete pipe simply supported along its bottom edge only, is subjected to a vertical knife-edge load along the top edge line. Geometry Inner diameter: 0.6[m]; Outer diameter: 0.8[m]; Thickness: 0.2[m] Modulus of Elasticity: 3,000,000[t/m2]; Poisson ratio: 0.3 Elements: 48 rectangular elements Supports: Pinned Loads Concentrated load: -3.6 at nodes 25 and 75.
